Welcome to Sedgwick College

Our Vision: A world of bright futures and exciting opportunities for people with SEND.

Sedgwick College (based within the Penn Hall Mansion in Wolverhampton) proposes to provide an exciting, inspirational and professional educational route of progression for 14-19-year-old students with special educational needs and disabilities from early entry level 1 through to level 2 and beyond.

Offering a varied and individualised curriculum with high quality teaching and learning, students will have the opportunity to specialise in a variety of different career pathways in practical and vocational settings both within and outside of the college, developing in skill sets and knowledge that enables independence and effectiveness in life, learning and work.

At the heart of the vision, we will ensure students are nurtured and given ample opportunities to flourish vocationally, becoming well equipped and prepared for independence and meaningful, paid employment in their future lives.

Outcomes for children and young people with SEN or in alternative provision are poor.

  • Young people with SEN often have fewer opportunities in later life: by age 27 they are less likely than their peers to be in sustained employment.
  • Navigating the SEND system and alternative provision is not a positive experience for children, young people and their families.
  • Despite unprecedented investment, the system is not delivering value for money for children, young people and families.

How you can help us!

The Sedgwick College provision is proposing to be housed within Penn Hall Mansion on the Penn Hall School grounds. The college, whilst retaining the beautiful architecture and history of the building, will offer high quality and accessible teaching and communal spaces, as well as work experience rooms and facilities spread throughout the ground floor and external grounds.

Projected costs to develop the building and grounds are £400,000 and so all money raised will go towards this and additional resources needed to make our vision a reality for the future of our students!
